Thank You For Your Votes

Thanks to the support of Georgians statewide, the House Bill 344 ballot referendum passed this week with more than 73 percent of the vote! Beginning in January, we and the other 55 Habitat affiliates in Georgia will be exempt from property taxes on vacant lots we are holding for future development. Once we build a Habitat home, the properties will again be placed on the tax rolls and begin to generate more tax income than they previously did. This savings will allow our affiliate to divert approximately $10,000 annually to help more families in our community achieve the dream of homeownership. This year has been overwhelming on so many levels. We are all weary. Between the global pandemic, social injustices, violence, and a relentless and divisive election; we are desperately in need of healing. At Habitat, we are doubling down on our mission to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Whether it’s helping a senior in your neighborhood, feeding the hungry, or a spontaneous act of kindness for a complete stranger, please join us in our commitment to build hope in these uncertain times. Thank you for voting and supporting our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
